IEU Students Elect New Student Council Leaders for 2019–2020 Period Mei 11, 2026

After a long period of vacuum, on Monday, October 7 2019, the election of student council president for period 2019-2020 was held in the Auditorium of STIE IEU Surabaya. Four pairs of candidates for president and vice president were introduced to the audience, and were given opportunities to promote their respective vision, mission, and programs toward students of IEU Surabaya.

The students participated in the election of the Student Council chairman with great enthusiasm, as apparent from the Auditorium on the 4th floor which was filled to the brim with students of STIE IEU Surabaya. The elected pair consisted of Tomi Ninu Tnunay and Adelia Gita Safitri and both of them had been students of the Management Program, class of 2018.

The MyDel (Tomy and Adel) candidates proposed a very compelling set of programs including English Club, English Day, Business Seminar, Intensive English, Sport & Art contests, and so on. Several lecturers of the undergraduate and graduate programs also attended The Election Day.

In his remarks, Joshua Jeffrey Kurniawan, MM, MBA as the Vice Chief in Student Affairs, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm in democratic process exhibited by students of STIE IEU Surabaya through the introduction of four candidate-pairs. He sincerely expected the elected pair, whoever they would be, to manage the rivalry which might arise in the election, to be able to cross “the gap” and to collaborate with everyone amicably regardless of their votes. Once the election concluded, there would be no winners or losers, no more rivalry between this and that camps, because ‘There is only one true winner, us, STIE IEU Surabaya.’

In conclusion of the election of the new Student Council members, it is hoped that newly elected student council, through their programs, are able to elevate the image of STIE IEU Surabaya in the global world, and to change STIE IEU Surabaya for the better.
